Digital detox
This year is flying by! Am I the only one thinking this? We are all heading into a new Season: Spring/Autumn and with this in mind, I personally like to spend time making way for the new.
For me that meant something very simple. A digital detox. I decluttered the desktop on my laptop and also sent my 2008 iMac off to a recycling centre. My iMac was taking up ‘waaaay’ too much space in my built-in wardrobe – sitting there accumulating dust. Just a glorified hard-drive really. So it was time to copy everything off it and move it on.
But more easily said than done. There was a lot of sentimental value for me in this old machine. It heralded the beginning of my creative digital art work. I remember not being able to afford it at the time, but knowing I had to find a way. Well I did, and I’ve never looked back!
The majority of the artwork for Yoga Mudra Oracle was created on that first iMac. It was 12 years old at the time of this big project and worked like a dream. Waving it goodbye at the Post Office was like farewelling an old friend. But it also really felt like a new beginning. I felt lighter.
LET GO OF THE OLD – to make WAY FOR THE NEW
So my question to you is: is there something of sentimental value that you’re holding onto right now – that’s taking up space in your home that you know it’s time to let go of?
I believe this is also true of our inner work. When we pause and make space within through a conscious breath or spiritual practice, everything we were thinking or caught up in just a moment ago – our worries or concerns – can lessen or entirely melt away.
With each breath, we release the old and welcome the new. As the mind becomes still, we discover the doorway to infinite beginnings. Various yogic and other ancient practices and tools can also help deliver us into this space.
So I hope my little story might inspire you to let go of the old to make way for the new both within and without.

With each breath, we release the old and welcome the new. As the mind becomes still, we discover the doorway to infinite beginnings.
Meditation video – step into new beginnings
With this same impulse in mind, I created this FREE meditation video to help you move into a new season and new beginning. It will help you let go of your worries and concerns and usher you into a place of new possibility. It highlights a favourite Pranayama (breathing technique) of mine: Nadi Shodhana (alternate nostril breathing). This is an instantly calming practice and I also recommend some mudras to cultivate peace and calm, abundance and manifestation.
