Discover the Power of Mudras

“In Eastern mysticism, it is believed that the hands connect us to the unconscious. When we open our hearts, divine energy flows through us, expressing itself through our hands and in everything we do.”

Recently, I had the pleasure of celebrating my birthday at a delightful new Persian restaurant here in Sydney. This intimate venue, accommodating only ten guests, provided a dining experience that felt incredibly personal. The food was exquisite, but what truly made the evening special was an unexpected musical performance.

The owners introduced us to their friend, a gifted setar player—a traditional Persian lute that is distinct from the more commonly known sitar. As he played, the room was filled with a transcendent energy. The music seemed to lift me beyond my everyday thoughts, connecting me to something ‘else’—a divine expression through sound.

“In Eastern mysticism, it is believed that the hands connect us to the unconscious. When we open our hearts, divine energy flows through us, expressing itself through our hands and in everything we do.”

After the performance, I had a conversation with the owner, a wise Iranian woman. She shared a piece of wisdom that deeply resonated with me:

This insight led me to reflect on how creative types (no matter what the creative expression) first tap into their intuition and heart to bring forth their work. It also made me think about the phrase, “It’s in your hands,” which implies that we hold the power to shape our reality. Our hands are more than just tools; they are channels for divine energy and creativity.

In yoga and meditation, mudras—ancient hand gestures—play a crucial role in connecting us to our deeper consciousness. Mudras help us align with our true nature and open our hearts to receive divine guidance.

Take a moment to appreciate everything your hands have created, nurtured, and given. They are powerful instruments of expression, capable of manifesting beauty and transformation in the world. ❤️
